God’s Love Poured Out May 10, 2015 Romans 5:1-11 Matthew 11:25-30 Sermon Title: Learning Peace Reflection on the Text This text speaks of the nature of humanity: suffering, endurance, character, and hope. It also recognizes that Christ died for all people will people were still sinners. This paints humanity in a wide spectrum from suffering to hope, suggesting that Christ meets us where we are. At the same time, this text says more about God than it says about humanity. It gushes with the abundant love God offers God’s people. No matter where people are, God showers them with love. Even before justification and reconciliation, God showers them with love. Even though ultimate salvation still hangs in the future, God showers them with love. As God reconciles humanity to God in the midst of human brokenness, God showers them with love. |
