Theme: David Anointed King Readings: 2 Samuel 5:1-5; 6:1-5; Psalm 150; Ruth 1:15-17; Mark 11:8-10 Sermon: Pastor Debbie McAllister Scripture Summary After generations with no king but God, the people of Israel clamored for a king. So God gave them Saul. In his time, Saul turned away from God, and David was anointed king over Israel. After many battles, David entered the city, the fortress of Zion, which became David’s city, Jerusalem. The city was claimed with great celebration, with honor and glory given to God. David returned the stolen Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, and the whole city celebrated. David, and David’s line, did nothing small. |
