We are a congregation in the Sierra Pacific Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). We are people of all ages and backgrounds who desire to live out the example of Jesus' love for ALL people. Whether you grew up Lutheran or are coming from a different faith tradition or none at all, you are welcome here! We hope you will get to know us by watching a service online or worshiping with us in person.
What's it like at Elim? Our worship services are pretty casual. Our first service is slightly more formal with traditional hymns. The second service features a band with more contemporary music. We share communion every Sunday at both services, which everyone is welcome to take. What about my kids? Kids are welcome at both services, and there is a Children's Message right before the sermon. At the moment, we are not currently offering a nursery or Sunday School, but we have a children's choir, Communion Kids program for elementary students monthly after church, and a Confirmation program for 6th - 8th graders. Where do I park? We have a parking lot located on Stanley Street, which offers a handicapped-accessible entrance ramp to the church. There is also parking available on the streets around the church. What do I wear? Come as you are! Some people like to dress up a bit, while others are more comfortable in jeans or even shorts when the weather is warm. What about restrooms? We have handicapped accessible restrooms downstairs near the parking lot, and an all gender restroom upstairs in the sanctuary. How can I get connected? First, sign up to get the weekly Elim Express so you'll know what's going on in the life of our church. Then, talk to the pastor or anyone at Elim about your interests, and we'll connect you to one of our ministries. Try the Tuesday night Adult Bible Study to meet some great people. If you like to serve, come to Elim on the third Thursday of the month for the Interfaith Food Pantry, where we give out food to at least 40 of our neighbors each week. We also have women's groups (with fellowship and Bible studies) that meet at different times during the month and a Men's Breakfast every Saturday morning, in the church kitchen and also on Zoom. How do I join Elim as a member? Talk to the pastor first. Then fill out our online membership form. |
