Lots of Volunteer Opportunities at Elim

Picture
Have you noticed that the people handing you a bulletin, helping with communion, reading the lessons and working in the kitchen on Sunday mornings? These are our dedicated worship helper volunteers! They all love their jobs but they would also love to have a few more volunteers so that they don’t have to do it every week. And it's fun to be part of the team that makes our worship services happen. And there are many other jobs available as well.
Volunteer Here!

Fifth Annual KindKnits Giveaway:
120 Scarves and Hats Brighten Downtown Petaluma

Our annual KindKnits community outreach project was a tremendous success! On Saturday morning, December 17, 120 scarves, cowl scarves and hats, lovingly handmade by the Elim KindKnits group, were hung downtown on the pillars outside of Copperfield’s bookstore for our annual KindKnits giveaway. The scarves and hats were given free to anyone who wanted one for warmth—or to brighten their wardrobe and spirit. Each was tagged with a label that invited the recipient to pay the kindness forward with a kind act of their own choosing—and join us either online or in person for worship. Passersby stopped by all morning to chat and choose items for themselves or relatives or friends who would appreciate the kindness, and by Sunday morning, every item had found its new home.

Many thanks to our team for another hugely successful year of spreading joy in the community: Robin Butts, Pat Kellgren, Doris Widger, Julie Prime and Suzy Sellai. A big thanks also goes to Maria Svinth and her friends for helping Julie and Kevin Prime hang the scarves in the 31° F weather! Let’s keep it going—and growing! Keep knitting, crocheting and looming those wonderful scarves and hats in whatever colors or patterns bring you joy, and let’s see how many we can hang next December. For more information or new pattern ideas, talk to Julie Prime.
