Read: Psalm 27:1-6; Matthew 6:25-34

his psalm of trust shows the faithfulness of the psalmist in a God who has proven to be faithful. Because of the faithful mercies of God, the psalmist can be brave, knowing that God will ultimately protect him from lasting harm. This is not to say that the promise is deliverance from enemies, but deliverance despite enemies. Even if enemies and war rise, the psalmist can remain in the presence of God.

This psalm of lament calls upon God’s faithfulness to deliver the psalmist from suffering that is caused, in great part, by the psalmist’s faithfulness to God. The psalmist, though weary from waiting, remains persistent, knowing that God will answer his pleas and deliver him in God’s own time.
